Mary Taylor grew up in Northeast Ohio in a blue collar, single parent household. Her father, a bricklayer, taught Mary the value of hard work and she was the first in her family to go to college. After graduating with a Master’s degree in Taxation, Mary became a CPA before becoming involved in local and state government. As a State Representative, Mary stood up to her own party’s plans to raise taxes and was stripped of important committee assignments for it. Despite this, Mary became the first CPA to be elected State Auditor where she was named “Watchdog of the Treasury” for her efforts to weed out waste and abuse in State Government. As Lt. Governor, Mary opposed the Governor’s Medicaid expansion and she leads the Common Sense Initiative which has changed or eliminated over 7,500 job killing regulations. Her running mate, Nathan Estruth is a political outsider who is running for office for the first time. He retired from a nearly 27 year career at Procter & Gamble to join Mary’s campaign. He is a job creator who has been active in national conservative causes and interned in the Reagan White House. He and wife Madonna have four children and reside in the Cincinnati area.
